Last year after I had my son I began looking for supplement products that were safe to consume while nursing. I was wanting to get back in shape, gradually and safely. It takes 9+ months to gain the weight during a pregnancy and I didn’t want to stress over losing it. After researching many options, trying to eat healthy with my husband while struggling with more cravings than pregnancy (fries, burgers and shakes anyone?), I landed on one to try. I poured over the research of how safe the supplements and diet were while nursing and you can lose the weight safely and there were workouts with it, etc. There was even a coach to help me through the beginning stages, except she never showed up. I got things started and by day 4 I was so hungry and frustrated I couldn’t do it anymore. The supplements did not taste good to me at all. I called her and said I was out and this wasn’t for me.
My search continued and I came across IdealRaw’s products. First, I started with the 15 Day Mommy Challenge*. I was hooked! Energy levels went up, I was feeling strong, and I was able to do more than one actual pushup again. My diet also greatly improved, no more shakes, fries, and burgers as often! My husband even started noticing a difference. You know how they say, it takes you 4 weeks to notice a difference and 8 weeks for friends and family. Except it was so much sooner!
Protein Powder
At first, I was skeptical of trying the protein powder through IdealRaw. I had tried brand X and was not sold on the taste or texture. After researching IdealRaw and learning they are a plant-based product and safe while nursing, I saw many people discussing those two points. Plant-based protein can take some adjustment times and there are ways to help alleviate them such as adding nut milk, fruit, and ice and blending. My favorite way is to make a smoothie instead of just adding milk and drinking. I typically drink mine in the morning now as a meal replacement by adding leafy greens, fruit, and a healthy fat.
The benefits of this protein are that it is vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, and organic. It is naturally sweetened, so no nasty additives and safe for consumption while nursing too. Win-win-win!
You can get a sample pack* of the protein to try out if you are interested.
Superfoods
The superfood addition is amazing! I add 2 scoops of this to my drink and it gives me an extra boost to fuel my day. It contains:
- 12 organic fruits and vegetables
- Antioxidants from vitamin C and E
- 6g more of plant protein
- B-complex
It also has a neutral taste so it does not change the flavor of my smoothies. By adding the superfoods mix with my protein, I have the energy to keep up with everything in my day. No more dreaming of naptime to lay back down too.
Matcha Green Tea
Any matcha green tea drinkers here? I honestly had never had matcha before trying the IdealRaw’s brand. But I’m sold! It gives me an extra pick me up in the afternoons when I need it most. This pretty green powder also helps me stay focused. It is a culinary grade powder, which means you can use it for baking.
Defense
I started taking these supplement pills in September to help boost my immunity with the impending cold and flu season. I also liked they contained probiotics, so I was getting the gut health benefit from it also. These immune defense pills have been such a lifesaver and I can honestly say it helps ward off the nasty germs. If I did start coming down with something, it lasted a day maybe instead of being sick for 3-4 days.
There are so many other amazing products from IdealRaw that I haven’t tried yet. If you want to try any of the supplements I listed above, you can check them out here*, along with all the other goodies they have.
